PART of a road in Basildon is set to shut for more than 100 days while a wall is reconstructed.

Basildon Road will be closed temporarily from its junction with Czarina Rise to its junction with Church Road for 103 days.

The closure is set to start on January 15 as wall reconstruction works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Church Hill, St Nicholas Lane, Upper Mayne Roundabout, Upper Mayne, Burches Roundabout, Basildon Road and vice versa.


Amended plans have been submitted for the redevelopment of the fire-hit former Reids bar in Billericay.

Plans were unveiled for the conversion, redevelopment and extension of the existing building, in Laindon Road, to form a third-storey for 32 residential apartments and associated access, parking, refuse, drainage, landscaping and other infrastructure works.

This application closes for feedback on Christmas Eve.


An outline planning application was received for the demolition of all buildings at 200 London Road, Wickford, to build up to 49 residential dwellings with open space.

A main access point would also be created from London Road and land to the rear would also be created.

The plans are also closed for feedback on December 24.


Barnard Close, in Vange, is set to be closed on January 22 from its junction with The Slade to its end a distance of about 160m.

It will be shut for 26 days while footway and kerbs improvement works are carried out by Essex County Council.

No alternative route is available.


Milenna Homes has unveiled plans to build four detached homes with open space - and new vehicular access onto Rectory Road - on land west of Spruce Drive in Hawkwell.

Representations to Rochford Council about this proposal should be made by December 28.


Cockleshed Company has applied to vary the premises licence for the much-loved No.1 Cockleshed restaurant in Old Leigh.

The variations proposed are for the revision of licensed area plan only to include the new enlarged decking area at the High Street venue, which was given planning permission on May 31

No other changes to times, terms or conditions, are proposed.

An outline planning application was revealed for construction of the homes on land east of Bakers Farm Close, Southend Road, Wickford, Essex.

Representations to Basildon Council about these plans must be made by December 31.
