A man has been left in a life-threatening condition after being stabbed in south Essex today, police have confirmed.
Police were called to a violent attack in Pitsea today shortly before 1.05pm after reports a man had sustained a serious stab wound.
Residents reported an air ambulance had landed at the Basildon Upper Academy.
The victim was rushed to the Royal London Hospital in a life-threatening condition after being attacked in the Edinburgh Way residential estate.
A manhunt has now been launched to find the suspect, who has been described as around 16 years old, 5ft 8ins, and wearing a Louis Vuitton beanie hat.
Following the stabbing, he was last seen on a bicycle heading towards Wickford Avenue.
Police cars and a cordon remained on the scene today into the evening as enquiries continued.
DI Marcus Dodd said: “Officers were on the scene within minutes of receiving this call and are conducting fast-paced enquiries to establish the circumstances of this incident.
“Officers will maintain a presence in the area as they seek to speak to witnesses and reassure residents.
“I would urge anyone with concerns, or anyone who may have information which could assist our investigation, to come forward to us as soon as possible.”
