The Basildon branch of Dog Trust has shared five dogs in need of a forever home in the new year.

Take a look at them here:

Marty, a two-year-old labrador

Echo:

Marty is sweet and lively boy who is seeking an active family who can take him on lots of adventures. He can live with children over the age of 14 years old, who are used to strong and bouncy dogs. Marty is strong on the lead, so will need ongoing loose-lead training in his new home. He must be the only dog in the home and will need ongoing socialisation in his new home, as he can be a bit nervous when meeting new dogs. Knowledge or experience with nervous dogs would be beneficial as he can worry about walking through doors and gates.

Ella, a two-year-old dachshund

Echo:

Ella is lovely girl who is ready to find her forever home. She needs an adult only-home as she is worried about new people. She must be the only pet in the home. Ella will need to build confidence in the big wide world. She is on a treatment plan for heartworm so will need ongoing medical treatment in her new home. Ella would benefit from a secure, private garden to explore in and help with housetraining. Knowledge of the Dachshund breed would be beneficial as she is very vocal and takes her time to settle in new environments. She is a multiple-meet dog so her new owners will need to come up to the centre a few times to build a bond with her before she can go home.

Pops, a 14-year-old Yorkshire terrier

Echo:

Pop is looking for a quiet home with her long-time friend Candy. Both Candy and Pops are looking for a family who are able to give them love and attention and space to relax and settle when they need it. The little oldies would benefit from a garden to mooch around in. They love cuddles and attention and are able to live with a family with children over 14 years.

Candy, a 12-year-old Chinese crested cross

Echo:

This little fur ball enjoys her cuddles, fusses and treats. Both Candy and Pops are house trained, but will need a family to be patient whilst settling in. They are used to being left for a very short period of time, so their new family will need someone at home all the time to start and then build up their leaving hours slowly. Candy and Pops are not used to travelling in the car and may be prone to crying.

Spud, a six-year-old akita cross

Echo:

Super Spud is ready to search for his fur-ever home. He has become a firm favourite at the Centre. He is a sociable and loving boy. Spud can live with children aged 11 years and over who are dog-savvy and will give him space when needed. He must be the only pet in the home but can have walking buddies as he can be a little avoidant. Spud would like a private secure garden he can potter around in without any distractions. He is super smart and loves training but equally loves to curl up next to you for a fuss. He does have luxating patellas, but that does not stop him enjoying his walks and zooming around. He is on Yumove Advance to help with his joints long term. He would suit a quieter household who can give him all the fuss and love that he deserves.
