A LARGE fire is ongoing at industrial units in a south Essex village.
Firefighters were called to reports of a large plume of smoke in Stambridge at around midday today.
Fire crews have reported a number of large buildings were alight.
It has since been revealed the fire involves a number of industrial units.
The scene has been blocked off by emergency services nearby.
The smoke coming from the scene has been seen from residents across south Essex.
Pictures show it bellowing out into the sky from miles away.
Crews are urging nearby residents to close their windows and doors as the fire is currently producing a lot of smoke.
Eight crews from all over the county have been called to the scene.
These include firefighters from Southend, Leigh, Chelmsford, Rayleigh Weir, Grays, Basildon, Corringham and Rochford.
It is unknown yet the cause of the fire.
