A major south Essex road is set to shut for six nights this month while pot hole repairs are undertaken.

Long Road, on Canvey, will be closing on January 22 for six nights, from 8pm until 5am each night.

The major road will be closed from its junction with Furtherwick Road to its junction with Haven Road, a distance of about 1,955m.

This will be in place while Essex Highways carries out pot hole repairs in the road.

The alternative route will be via Furtherwick Road, Knightswick Road, Central Wall Road, High Street, Somnes Avenue, Somnes Avenue Roundabout, Somnes Avenue, Canvey Way Roundabout, Canvey Road, Canvey Road Roundabout North, Canvey Road, Canvey Road Roundabout South and Canvey Road

Another alternative route will be via Canvey Road, Canvey Road Roundabout South, Canvey Road, Canvey Road Roundabout North, Canvey Road, Canvey Way Roundabout, Somnes Avenue, Somnes Avenue Roundabout, Somnes Avenue, Somnes Avenue Roundabout, Somnes Avenue, High Street, Central Wall Road, Elder Tree Road, High Street, Foksville Road and Furtherwick Road.

Essex County Council has reassured access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
