The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across south Essex - warning of heavy rain which may lead to flooding and travel disruption.

The Met Office yellow warning is in place for Essex and the south of England from 12pm to 3am tomorrow, warning of another spell of rain falling onto saturated ground, which may lead to further flooding and travel disruption.

Essex residents told to expect:

  • A slight chance of power cuts and losses of services to homes and businesses
  • A small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing building damage.
  • Spray and flooding likely to cause difficult driving conditions and road closures
  • A small chance that some communities will be cut off by flooded roads
  • Chances of delays to train and bus services.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead if looking to travel during heavy downpours and prepare for reduced visibility and slippery conditions on roads.

Drivers are also advised to avoid flooded roads and to turn around and find another route, due to the difficult to assess depth of flood waters, which can strand drivers and cause severe damage.
