A MAN has denied murdering a woman in Eastwood in November last year.
Kevin Shepherd, 54, of Whitehouse Meadows, Eastwood was charged with the murder of Sharon Butler.
Ms Butler, 64, died in Eastwood, after officers were called to an address in Whitehouse Meadows on Tuesday, November 7, following reports of an assault.
Shepherd was initially charged with murder at Southend Magistrates Court on November 9 last year.
He denied murder at a hearing in Basildon Crown Court on Friday.
In a previous statement, Ms Butler’s family said: “Our world has been shattered by the loss of our loving daughter and sister.
“Our lives will never be the same without her.
“She never will be forgotten and will be forever in our hearts.”
On November 7, officers were called to an address in Whitehouse Meadows following reports of an assault.
Attending officers found a woman, later identified as Ms Butler, who had sustained serious injuries in the garden of a property.
His Honour Judge Ian Graham oversaw the January 5 hearing and a trial date was set for May 7.
The trial is expected to last five days and Butler remains remanded in custody.
