Officers investigating a "disturbance" in Westcliff have named a man charged in connection.
Police were called to Hamlet Court Road near Ceylon Road at around 7.20pm on Monday after reports of a break-in at a flat.
A 22-year-old man, from Romford, was arrested on suspicion of burglary as part of the investigation.
Khalid Mohamud, 22, of Montpelier Gardens, Romford, has since been charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and cannabis, possession of criminal property, possession of cannabis and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court today, where he was remanded in custody until a hearing at Basildon Crown Court on Wednesday, February 7.
