A SOUTHEND fundraiser has played a game of footgolf in a gaping Shoebury pothole to highlight how big and dangerous it is.
Lee Clark, Kursaal ward Confelicity Party candidate, went down Waterloo Road on Wednesday where he managed to fit two footballs into one hole.
As a result, Mr Clark has reported the issue to protect people’s safety.
He said: “I decided to highlight how big our potholes are. I’ve reported these which are down Waterloo Road, Shoebury.
“I worry about our motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, especially when it gets dark because of poor lighting – and especially during this cold snap.”
Mr Clark, who is a well-known charity fundraiser in the city, even created a golf flag, which he placed into the gaping pothole.
The flag read: “Footgolf, 18, sponsored by the many potholes of Southend.”
