Drivers are facing "severe delays" on the A127 in south Essex as gas main works continue.
The AA has reported long delays which are "increasing" in the major road Southend-bound between Pipps Hill Road North in Basildon and the A129 in Rayleigh.
It is reporting an average speed of 15mph.
Traffic is particularly very slow and "heavier than normal" on the A127 at A132 East Mayne, and on the A130 at A1245 (Bonville's Roundabout).
This is not helped by a lane closure due to gas main work on the major road from the A1245 (Fairglen Interchange) to the A129 Rayleigh Road (Rayleigh Weir).
