A WATER provider has provided further updates following reports of a water leak outside a bike shop in Benfleet.
Reports surfaced of a water leak outside the shop in The Tarpots, London Road, Benfleet on the evening of January 9.
The following morning saw a car crash into metal barriers in the same area with more reports that the water leak had turned into ‘black ice’.
Emergency services including Essex Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Police were called and safely secured the scene, but no one was trapped or injured.
Now, following days of work, Essex Suffolk and Water are closed to finishing.
Andrew Sheldon, Tory Essex county councillor for South Benfleet, said: “Essex and Suffolk water have told me they have fixed the leak and are about to begin reinstatement.
“They believe they will be completely off site with all lanes open by 4pm.”
A spokesman for Essex Suffolk and Water added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience while we are on site.”
