Southend Airport has announced an expansion of its winter programme today with the addition of extra flights to a popular ski destination.
Low-cost airline easyJet is improving its schedule with extra Sunday services to Geneva in February, in addition to its existing flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
With the winter season in full swing, Southend Airport is offering its biggest winter programme of routes since 2019 - with easyJet flights to Alicante, Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva and Grenoble.
John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, commented: “We welcome this mid-season sprinkling of extra ski flights to Geneva being provided by our partner easyJet.
“Whether it’s getting to Les Alpes D’Huez or Les Deux Alpes on our Grenoble flights or Morzine or Chamonix using our expanded Geneva operations we’ve got you covered when it comes to the slopes this winter.
“The addition of these services indicates that there is robust demand from the people in the east of London and Essex to getaway on a ski break from their quick and easy local airport.”
These extra flights come after the airport's announcement of its new partnership with Aeroitalia, which will be launching services to Milan Bergamo from Southend on March 25, joining existing airline and tour operators easyJet, Balkan Holidays and Santa’s Lapland.
This year the airport will offer destinations in Spain, Portugal, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, Bulgaria and Italy.
