Commuters are facing delays this evening as a c2c line is blocked in south Essex.
Train services running across the whole c2c network may be cancelled, delayed or revised this evening rush hour, with disruption expected until 6.45pm.
This is as due to a fault with the signalling system between Pitsea and Benfleet.
Greater Anglia is conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.
First Bus is also accepting tickets on all reasonable routes from Basildon to Leigh and Stanford-le-Hope to Leigh.
Shuttle train services are also in place between Shoebury and Leigh.
A c2c spokesman said: "We are truly sorry for the disruption this afternoon. If your journey has been delayed by 15 minutes or more, you can claim compensation through our delay repay scheme here: orlo.uk/A4hHR."
Anyone whose journey has been disrupted by more than 15 minutes may be entitled to cash compensation. Visit c2c-online.co.uk/help-feedback/delay-repay for information on how to claim.
Earlier disruption caused by a lorry crashing into a bridge between Ockendon and Chafford Hundred has now ended.
