A BAKERY in Southend High Street has suddenly closed permanently less than two years after opening. 

Wenzel's bakery, in 119 High Street, has confirmed it has closed in a tweet on social media. 

After being asked about the Southend store, bosses stated: "Our Southend High Street closed on Sunday.

"You can find your next nearest Wenzel's store here www.wenzels.co.uk/our-stores/."

Google is also now stating the store as "permanently closed". 

Wenzel's now has more than 100 locations across England, including Basildon and Billericay. 

The closure of the Southend High Street store comes less than two year's after the chain opened the site back in May 2022. 

Wenzel's next nearest store is in Prince Avenue, in Westcliff.

The reason for the sudden closure is yet to be confirmed.
