SEVERAL south Essex drivers appeared in court last month charged with speeding offences in the area.
The national speed limits are 70 miles per hour (mph) on motorways and dual carriageways, 60mph on single carriageways and generally 30mph in areas with street lighting.
We have rounded up some of the drivers who appeared in magistrates’ courts last month.
Philip Osborn
Philip Osborn, 59, was caught speeding on the Dartford Crossing on January 16 last year.
Osborn, of Cambridge Farm, Cambridge Lane, Horam, Heathfield, East Sussex, was caught driving at 60mph, exceeding the speed limit of 50 mph.
He initially pleaded guilty on August 21 and appeared in Basildon Magistrates Court on January 4 where he was fined £769.
Osborn was also disqualified from driving for six months due to repeat offending and had three points added to his licence.
Mark Imran Raza
Mark Imran Raza, was driving above the speed limit in Stanford-le-Hope on January 15 last year.
Raza, 42, of Jacksons Lane, Billericay, was caught driving on Southend Road, between First Avenue and Balmoral Avenue.
He was driving at 37 mph, exceeding the speed limit of 30 mph.
Raza pleaded guilty in Basildon Magistrates’ Court on January 4 as he was fined £192 and had three points added to his licence.
Harry Jenkins
Harry Jenkins was caught speeding on A127 Southend Arterial Road between Nevendon and Laindon Westbound on January 17 last year.
Jenkins, 19, of Colbert Avenue, Southend, was caught by cameras driving at 58 mph, exceeding the speed limit of 50 mph.
He initially pleaded guilty on August 21 and appeared in Basildon Magistrates’ Court on January 4 as he was fined £138.
Jenkins also had three points added to his licence.
Abraham Ishak
Abraham Ishak was driving above the speed limit last year when he was caught on January 21.
Ishak, 26, was caught on the A127 between Southend Boundary and the A129 Rayleigh Weir, driving at 61 mph as the speed limit was 50 mph.
He initially pleaded guilty on August 18 last year before appearing in Basildon Magistrates’ Court on January 4.
Ishak, of Honiton Road, Southend, was fine £100 and had three points added to his licence.
Talia Richards
Talia Richards was caught speeding whilst driving on the A132 Runwell Road near the junction with Ilgars Road in Wickford.
Richards, 23, of High Street, Brentwood, was driving in a Fiat 500 Lounge at 38 mph, exceeding the limit of 30 mph.
She initially pleaded guilty on August 18 last year and appeared in Basildon Magistrates Court on January 4 where she was fined £40 and had three points added to her licence.
