A YELLOW warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for south Essex.
Yellow warning means "severe" weather is possible over the next few days.
Residents are advised to plan ahead for possible travel delays or for the disruption of day-to-day activities.
The warning is expected to come into effect at 7pm this evening (February 10) and end at 12pm on Sunday, February 11.
Spells of rain are expected, which in turn could lead to some flooding and disruption to travel.
South Essex residents have been advised to expect:
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
- Possible flooding of a few homes and businesses
The current Essex forecast outlines cloudy weather from the south this evening and through the first part of the night.
In addition, rain tonight is projected to be heavy and persistent, particularly along the coast.
