A MAN suffered a broken nose and cuts to his head in a serious attack on Southend seafront, triggering an Essex Police investigation.
Police say emergency services were called to Eastern Esplanade at about 8.30pm on Friday after a man who had been injured collapsed outside the new Namaste Village restaurant, next to the Kursaal.
Staff from a nearby cafe stepped in to help the man, in his 30s, who had been seriously assaulted at a toilet block opposite the restaurant, located near to the Breakwater café.
He had suffered a broken nose and cuts to his head and he was taken to hospital, Essex Police said.
Detectives are now asking for anyone who was on the seafront on Friday night, who may have information, to get in touch as soon as possible.
Det Sgt Stacy King, of Southend CID, said: “I’d like to thank the staff who assisted the victim and called emergency services.
“The area would have been busy early Friday evening and I’d like to ask anyone who was in the area and who saw anything that could help us piece together what happened and who is responsible for this assault, to contact us.
“Any piece of information, no matter how small, may be significant to our investigation.”
