THE burnt-out remains of a home will be demolished and rebuilt into a new three-bed house after plans were approved.

Basildon Council has given the green light to plans to demolish the home, which has become an eyesore since the fire last summer destroyed the property.

The home, in Manor Avenue, Pitsea, was hit by a heartbreaking fire in June 23.

Thankfully no-one was home at the time, but the property was “fully alight” when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Following an investigation, the cause of the fire which started in the lounge was found to be “due to electrics”.

The house has remained vacant and fenced off since, but plans have now been approved to demolish it and replace it with a new three-bedroom home.

Craig Rimmer, councillor responsible for the Pitsea South East ward, said: “It is good news.

“It is important that we are able to create a home there where one used to be.

“It is always extremely devastating when a house is damaged by a fire. I feel for the family that had to go through this and have lost their precious memories.”

The home was being rented by Nicola Kressy and her three children at the time, and the blaze turned their “whole lives upside down”.

The family lost the majority of their possessions and were left homeless.

Nicola and her family where initially placed in temporary accomodation but speaking to the Echo she revealed she has been offered a permanent place in Laindon.

When hearing upon the approved plans, Nicola said: “I am upset but it was rented so we had no choice but to go through the homeless system.

“Nearly 14 years that was our home and to see it change is going to be hard to see in a way.

“Most people say, I should look at it differently as I have had a new start and be grateful that I now have a council place. But I grew up on that road, in the house two doors down.

“My whole childhood was down that road, and Manor Avenue is where I felt at home.”
