Large plumes of smoke are visible from Southend Pier after a fire broke out at a recycling centre.
Firefighters are on the scene of a fire in Sheerness, Kent, but residents have spotted the smoke from Southend.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is responding to the fire with four fire engines, a bulk water carrier and the technical rescue unit in attendance.
Crews are working to extinguish the flames and people living or working near Garrison Road, Sheerness, have been advised to close windows and doors due to the smoke.
No injuries have been reported.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Please share this advice with any loved ones in the affected area who might not have access to the internet or social media".
