A TALENTED actress is to star in her first Hollywood blockbuster after landing the lead role in a horror-comedy retelling of classic fairytale Cinderella.

Lauren Staerck, from Thundersley, started out treading the boards in Benfleet and Canvey but scored her first break-out role as Cinderella in new film Cinderella’s Revenge.

The feature-film was shot entirely in the UK but is set to hit cinema’s across North America and Europe in April.

Lauren, 25, shares the stage with Fairy Godmother Natasha Henstridge, who has starred in a number of big-name Hollywood films since the 90s.

Now, Lauren is waiting for the film - which sees Cinderella pushed too far by her evil stepsisters and stepmother and take revenge - to hit cinemas and is hoping this will be the first of many major roles in her career.

Lauren said: “This is the biggest film I have ever done. I have done indie feature films which often go to Amazon Prime, but this is going to cinemas and is doing really well. It has been sold in all 50 states and across Europe.

“On set, it felt so real, and, in the moment, the locations were incredible.

“We filmed in Somerset, in a big country manor and in a big palace outside of London, We shot in a maze in an abandoned theme park and loads of cool places.

“It was amazing being on set, the cast and crew were amazing, and I worked with great actresses, like Natasha Henstridge, who plays the fairy godmother.”

Lauren got the role from work with production company Jagged Edge, whose producer put her forward for the lead of Cinderella.

She added: “This is a very woman-empowering film. There are characters who have not been treated well by men and Cinderella gets revenge on them. It is great, she starts sweet and innocent, as you would expect, and becomes more twisted.

“By the end, she is basically invincible and gets help with the fairy godmother’s magic.”

“I was ranked first in a UK competition for kickboxing. We have a lot of fight scenes, and a lot of my kickboxing experience came across into the film,” Lauren said.

Cinderella’s Revenge is set for a global release in cinemas on April 26.
