Actress and TV star Denise van Outen has hailed a Basildon cupcake firm as her "go to for the best chocolate cake" after she celebrated her dad's 80th birthday.
The 49-year-old, who grew up in Basildon, has taken to Instagram this week to share highlights from her dad Ted's birthday, and praise for independent businesses who helped her make the day special.
As part of the celebrations, she ordered a special snooker-themed cake from Basildon cake and cupcake designer Sweetcheeks Cupcakes.
Thanking the business, van Outen said: "And my go to for the best chocolate cake Sweetcheeks Cupcakes, Carol, you’re the best.
"I know people (celebs) normally post in exchange for freebies, everything was paid for - I’m not a squeak.
"I like to support independent businesses and all the above mentioned are the best. Please consider them if you’re having a party/celebration."
The star also ordered two cakes from the business last year for her daughter Betsy's milestone 13th birthday bash in Mersea, with one being an intricate chocolate cake featuring the girl sitting outside a beach hut with two dogs.
Denise van Outen is best known for presenting former Channel 4 show The Big Breakfast. She also played Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago both in the West End and on Broadway, and finished as runner-up in the tenth series of the BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing.
