A CRASH outside a Basildon shopping centre forced a pedestrian to be rushed to hospital for treatment.

The man was left injured following a crash outside Westgate Shopping Centre on Roundacre at around 5.20pm yesterday. Emergency services were called, and he was taken to Basildon Hospital.

An eyewitness said: “I was walking past and saw the man lying on the ground.

“I was really concerned about him. A couple of other people who were nearby put a bandage around his head and blankets over him and called an ambulance.

“Police were at the scene but the ambulance took around 40 minutes to arrive, so we stayed with the man and told him that help was on the way.

“I hope he’s okay.”
