THREE vehicles have been written off after a vehicle fire caused by a jump start gone wrong.
Firefighters from Tiptree and Leigh raced to Talisman Walk in Tiptree at 3.39pm on Tuesday after reports of a vehicle fire.
Whilst a vehicle was being jumpstarted, a fire started and spread around the vehicle to two others.
Safety advice has been issued to the public, advising them to make sure they have good knowledge of how to jump-start a car before attempting to do so.
No one was reported as injured as a result of the fire.
Station Manager Terry Maher said: “While it’s not uncommon for people to jump-start their cars, you need to be really careful and have good knowledge about how to do it properly.
"If you're not sure how to do it, don't risk it, and seek professional advice. Always double-check with your car manufacturer's handbook for instructions.
“Luckily no one was injured but unfortunately, due to the damage caused, all three vehicles have been written off.”
