Members of a community-spirited walking group are celebrating two years of getting together and forging friendships.
“Walk Talk Coffee Hockley” meets on Fridays at 9.30am at the Day Centre behind Hockley Library. Members head out on a four-mile walk, followed by coffee and cake.
It was set up by Corrina O'Donnell from Essex social movement United In Kind in 2022.
Julie Gooding, councillor for Hawkwell West, described it as “a great thing for the community”.
“We had 27 people join us for our walk to celebrate two years on Friday morning.
“We’ve created a wonderful network where we all share different knowledge and can help each other. It gives us a chance to catch up.
“It’s about knitting the community together. Everyone is welcome.
Members of all ages and walking abilities are invited to join.
Julie added: “We regularly have people in mobility scooters or using walking sticks come along, so we always make them feel welcome.”
After their celebratory walk on Friday, members enjoyed a drink at the Bull pub.
