AN historic High Street pub is set to close for a month while it undertakes a six-figure refurbishment.
Grade II listed The Hoy and Helmet pub, in Benfleet High Street, will be closing its doors for the major revamp from February 26.
A spokesman for the pub said: "The Hoy and Helmet will reopen to the public in late March, following a significant renovation to the pub both internally and externally."
The Greene King venue is thought to date from the early 15th or 16th century.

According to Benfleet History, The Hoy was used as a public meeting place and coroner's court room in the 19th century. Until 1922, the pub was called The Hoy, however in 1922 its name was changed to The Hoy and Helmet.
Supportive customers have shared their excitement to see the renovations after the grand re-opening of the pub.
Tripadvisor John C said: "I come to The Hoy every Wednesday for senior bingo and always have amazing service . It is such an enjoyable afternoon and the food and company is top notch!
"The staff are always so attentive and go out of their way to help all us oldies. Cannot wait for the grand opening after the refurbishment. Special mention to Phoebe, Austin and Leah."
