A SUDDEN power cut has left dozens without electricity this afternoon in Basildon.
Specialist engineers have been sent to the SS14 3 area of Basildon, covering the Pipps Hill and St Hilary’s retail parks, after an unexpected power cut.
Around 70 properties had initially been affected by the cut, believed to have been caused by a fault with an underground cable in the area.
Crews arrived on the site after 12pm and are investigating the issue. There are now 30 properties still affected.
The estimated timeframe to have power back on is 2pm and 3pm.
A message on the UK Power Networks website said: "Our engineers have arrived on site in the Basildon SS14 3 area to investigate the power cut affecting 70 properties.
"Specialist engineers are also working to divert power remotely, and this can cause your lights to go on and off.
"We know that a power cut can be very disruptive; we understand this can greatly impact your daily activities and we want to support you however we can."
