Brentwood Borough Council has pledged to stick with weekly black sack collections – as it prepares to analyse options for a change in collection schemes.

A number of alternatives including fortnightly black sack collections, are being modelled against criteria including deliverability, flexibility, ease of use, environmental impacts and costs.

However, the current administration says they are committed to keeping weekly black sack use and will recommend that when options come back to the council.

Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, Councillor Barry Aspinell told the green and clean committee on February 26: “This administration is not recommending anything less than a weekly collection of black sacks continuing.

“And that we will be looking to increase recycling, reducing the amount of money it costs this authority to deliver that and  by not doing anything at this moment in time but watching, waiting networking and finding out what is working best for other authorities.”
