TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-loved Canvey Lake goose which has sadly died.
Darcy Dooza was a social media sensation within the Canvey community but was sadly the victim of what is believed to be a fox attack.
The much-loved goose became famous after struggling with an injury that was noticed by those who walked around the lake.
Hayley Cockayne, a nearby resident, began to look out for Darcy and feed her to get her back to health as she does for all the wildlife there.
Sadly, this week, she was found dead after what is believed to be a fox attack.
Hayley said: “I am heartbroken.
“She first turned up to our feeding station limping badly, and usually other geese single out and bully injured ones.
“So, over time spending several hours a day with her, I began to win her trust. We then eventually established a routine, and she would come and hop into my garden, where I would shut my gate and she could eat and drink safely away from the other geese.
“I began posting on Facebook about her and she was truly loved by many.”
