The Basildon branch of charity Dogs Trust has shared five pawed pals in need of loving homes, including a Siberian husky and a chow chow.
Delta, a Siberian husky cross
Delta is looking for a home with no other pets. She can live with children of 11 plus who are sensible and used to large, bouncy dogs.
Previously, she has travelled well in the car but has struggled getting in. She would like a private and secure garden which she can potter around in without any distractions and to burn off some of her energy.
Delta has been housetrained in kennels but may need some house-training reminders in her new home. Any time she may be left alone must be built up slowly.
Herbie, a foxhound
Herbie would like to be the only pet in the home. He can live with older teens of 16 plus as he is a big boy and can be nervous when being handled.
He will need a private and secure garden which he can potter around in to help him with training as he has not been housetrained in the kennel. Time alone should be built up slowly as the centre has no information about how many hours he can be left on his own for.
Herbie's new owners must be willing to go and meet him quite a few times at the centre, before he can go home.
Coco, a chow chow
Coco is a one-year-old chow chow who arrived at the centre through no fault of her own. She is a sweet girl but she needs the right owners to help her build her confidence. She is starting to come out of her shell and loves going out for a walk and to explore.
She is nervous when meeting new people, but she does build confidence gradually over time. She loves to treat and is starting to enjoy playing with toys.
Dotty, a lurcher
Sweet natured Dotty is seeking her forever home. She can live with dog-savvy children over the age of 11 years old who can give her space when she wants time alone. She would like a private secure garden to explore in and help with housetraining. Knowledge of the lurcher breed would be beneficial due to her prey drive.
Dotty must be the only dog in the home and cannot live with cats or small furry animals. Dotty can walk with calm dogs and will need ongoing dog socialisation in her new home as she can bark when nervous.
Boberty, a Patterdale terrier
Boberty is a two-year-old Patterdale who arrived at the centre without much previous history.
He can live with children aged eight years and over and could live with another similarly-sized dog pending a successful dog introduction at the centre.
Boberty will need help to learn all things from scratch, including housetraining. Understanding of terrier breed traits is beneficial as he loves to be out and about exploring, with his nose to the ground.
