A busy road leading to Leigh's town centre is set to be shut for a week - to allow essential engineering works to take place.
Southend Council have issued notice that Hadleigh Road, from its junction with Rectory Grove and Leigh Park Road will be closed to vehicles from 8am on March 25 until 5pm on April 2.
This will also suspend all one-way traffic on Hadleigh Road from its junction with Leigh Park Road to New Road.
This is for the safety of the public and workforce while BT pole works take place.
The order will come into effect on March 25 and may continue in force for 18 months or until works have been completed - whichever is earlier.
An alternative route will be via New Road, Belton Way Easy, Rectory Grove and vice versa.
