A major south Essex Road running into a busy town centre is closed in both directions according to initial reports.
Reports made by Castle Point MP, Rebecca Harris, on Facebook state that Essex Police have closed the busy Benfleet High Road in both directions by Thundersley Park road due to an an "unknown incident," at 10.30am.
Reports made on social media claim that the disruption is due to a crash on the road.
AA Traffic Map shows traffic building heavily on Benfleet High Road, causing delays stretching to the junction with Vicarage Hill.
Traffic on Benfleet High Road has now begun to ease slightly, though traffic remains along the road.
