DARTFORD Crossing has re-opened after a five hours closure but there are still severe delays.

The QE2 Bridge was closed shortly after 6am this morning following "concerns for the welfare of a man".

As a result, this caused severe congestion on the M25 and A13.

Drivers were urged to find "alternative routes" whilst police dealt with the incident.

Following the closure, National Highways introduced a diversion.

The eastbore tunnel on the northbound was used to divert traffic on the southbound.

Five hours later, National Highways has now confirmed the QE2 Bridge has re-opened.

Highway bosses also confirm the eastbore tunnel at Dartford Crossing is also now open.

However, there is still a severe two-hour delay on the M25 clockwise.

National Highway say they expect this to take "some time to clear".

A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed the man is now "safe and being cared for by healthcare professionals".
