Emergency services rushed to a two-car crash this afternoon in a busy south Essex road close to a major closure.
Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene in Southend Road, Rochford, before the junction with Bradley Way after reports of a crash.
The road was closed this afternoon and traffic was building up in the busy road.
The fire service has confirmed it attended and the scene was cleared by 3pm.
An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Crews were called to a road traffic collision on South Street, Rochford at 1.57pm.
"When firefighters arrived, they confirmed that it was a collision between two vehicles. Crews made the scene safe by 2.47pm and left the scene with the ambulance service and police."
The incident was close to the Sutton Road closure, which is in place as Anglian Water is carrying out works after the “total collapse” of a sewer underneath the road, and has been causing severe congestion in the town this week.
