STAFF from KFC teamed up to take part in a mass litter-pick in Rochford helping to collect 20,000 bags of rubbish.
The team members joined forces on Tuesday, March 19, as part of the Great British Spring Clean, a nationwide initiative spearheaded by anti-waste group, Keep Britain Tidy.
KFC, a supportive partner in the campaign, mobilised its Rochford staff to aid in addressing the disheartening figure of an estimated 153 million pieces of litter being strewn across England at any moment.
Bayo Alaba, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Southend East and Rochford, who took part in the event, said: "It was great to join KFC for the Great British Spring Clean, pick up some rubbish and hear about what they’re doing to tackle litter.
"Businesses must work with their communities to address little and help keep our local areas tidy.
"Our public realm is the first thing visitors see.
"Keeping it clean is about creating a good place to live and work, and about our whole state of mind as a city."
The KFC team in Rochford were among the thousands of volunteers who showed up to remake their communities into cleaner, litter-free spaces.
As well as Rochford, other KFC branches took part including Manchester, Edinburgh, London, Liverpool, Durham, Middlesbrough, and Birmingham.
