Here’s a whole gallery of flashback photos from a huge community event in the 1960s.
It was the Rayleigh Town Show and the year was 1967.
As you can see from the images, it was a colossal event, with everything from baby shows, fancy dress competitions and music to dog contests, art and military displays taking place.
Before the Town Show there was the Rayleigh Trinity Fair which started in the year 1227 and ran every year until it was shut down in 1899 for being “too rowdy”.
However, in recent years the Trinity Fair has been resurrected and the free event will be on again this year – on Sunday June 9 –with a whole host of entertainment and activities.
