An Essex-based business has won a nationwide award naming the company as one of the UK's best places to work.
Consensus Support Services Ltd, a specialist provider of residential care and supported living services for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs, has been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces 2024.
Grammar School House, in York Road, Colchester, is one of the company's oldest services which will be celebrating its 30th birthday later this year, with its first resident to have moved in still living there today.
Daniel Moase, the Manager of Grammar School House, Earls Colne, said: “Consensus creates opportunities for every team member to ensure we can support people to live the lives they want to live, which is why we do what we do each day.
"We have a great team who create a caring workplace culture which makes Grammar School House a great place to work.”
The independent audit began with confidential surveys in which 90% of employees agreed they could be their authentic selves.
Over 80% of employees confirmed they were offered training and development to further themselves professionally, further evidenced by over 100 promotions in 2023.
Bethany Casey, Internal Communications Coordinator, said: “I’ve been able to have fun, to grow, and to meet so many amazing people since working here. So I’m really excited that Consensus has been recognised for this externally, as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces – they deserve it.”
Great Place To Work performed extensive evaluations of survey responses and culture audits across hundreds of companies.
Only those businesses that achieved the highest scores receive Best Workplaces status.
Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place To Work UK, said: “This recognition is no mean feat and highlights companies across the UK that excel in fostering high levels of trust in leadership, instilling pride in their workforce, and cultivating strong camaraderie among colleagues.
"These crucial elements collectively contribute to creating workplaces where employees feel they can truly be themselves and thrive in a supportive environment.
"Congratulations to Consensus for being part of our 2024 UK’s Best Workplaces List."
