Rail enthusiasts are set to enjoy a "fascinating" steam train day trip from Southend to one of Britain's "prettiest city centres" this summer.
The Steam Dreams Rail Company added the unique journey to its schedule earlier this year, taking passengers from Southend Central and Leigh to the historic city of Chester on Thursday, August 8.
Daytrippers will be setting off from Southend Central at 6.55am, before stopping at Leigh and Barking stations and skirting London, where the steam locomotive will join.
Passengers will be arriving at Chester for 2pm before returning to the south Essex city again at 10.50pm.
These pictures from Steam Dreams Rail Company offer a look inside the vintage carriages ranging from classic decor to luxury Pullman-style seating.
Premium standard seats for the journey are now sold out, but first class and Pullman dining tickets are still available.
First class guests are welcomed on board with Bucks Fizz and freshly brewed coffee and tea, while the top price of £410 includes the Steam Dreams signature Champagne cocktail and a multi-course breakfast. On the return journey, wine is served alongside a seasonal ‘carte de jour’.
The scheduled locomotive for the steam hauled sections of this trip is the historic Royal Scot, although it cannot be guaranteed and may be substituted for a different engine.
