PLANS to demolish a community centre for new homes are among five new public notices this week.

An application has been unveiled to demolish the Crown Community Centre, in Crest Avenue, Pitsea, and build a block of 10 new homes.

This would include two one-bed flats, six two-bed flats and two two-bed houses. Proposals also include associated parking, amenity areas, and landscaping.

Any feedback should be made in writing to Basildon Council's planning services by April 14.

Barleylands Farm has applied for permission to host its spring country show and classic car show events annually.

The popular attraction, in Barleylands Road, Billericay, has submitted the bid to Basildon Council for the spring country show to be held annually on the last Sunday and following Bank Holiday Monday in May from 10am until 6pm.

It also wants to host the classic car show on the second Sunday in September from 10am until 6pm. This would also include the on-site sale of alcohol, the playing of both live and pre-recorded music, wrestling and dance displays.

Both events are to be repeated annually on the same weekend.

Representations must be received by Basildon Council's licensing team by April 14.

A much-loved Benfleet pub currently undergoing a £370,000 refurbishment has applied to change its opening hours.

The Bread and Cheese, in London Road, has submitted a proposal to Castle Point Council for the pub to be open from 8am to 11.30pm between Sunday and Thursday, and 8am to 1am from Friday to Saturday.

The pub has also applied for the sale of alcohol and playing of recorded music within these hours, as well as indoor sporting events, films, live music and performance of dance from 9am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 9am to 1am Friday to Saturday.

Feedback is open on these proposals until April 12.

An Eastwood road will be closing next month for BT works.

Brendon Way is set to close from Snakes Lane to Bideford Close on April 2 from 9.30am until 3.30pm, while access will be maintained for residents.

This closure will be in place to allow the telecommunications firm to carry out desilting works.

Drivers will be unable to park, wait, stop, load or unload from outside and opposite number 48 and number 57 to its junction with Bideford Close.

 

 A road in Westcliff will also be shutting for BT works to be carried out.

Mendip Crescent is set to close from outside and opposite number 63 to number 73, with drivers unable to park, wait, stop, load or unload in this stretch of the road.

 

The closure will be in place from 9.30am until 3pm on April 3 while maintenance works take place.

The alternative route will be via Cheddar Avenue.
