A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter as part of an investigation into the death of a man who was "working at height" in Shoebury.
Essex Police launched an investigation yesterday morning as emergency services were called to Campfield Road, Shoebury, just before 10am following reports a man had suffered "traumatic" injuries after a fall while working at height.
Despite the best efforts of medics, the man sadly died at the scene.
As part of the force's ongoing investigation, officers have now arrested a man in his 40s from the Witham area on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
A spokesman said yesterday afternoon: "We received a report of an incident at Campfield Road in Shoebury at around 10am this morning, during which a man who was working at height had fallen and sustained an injury.
"The ambulance service including air ambulance were in attendance. Sadly, the man died at the scene.
"We will continue liaising with partners including the Heath and Safety Executive.
"A cordon remains in place at the scene."
This is a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive and Essex Police's enquiries are ongoing.
Although currently unconfirmed, it is believed the man who died is George Gilbey, from St Osyth, who is best known for appearances on Channel 4’s Gogglebox and Celebrity Big Brother.
