A ROCHFORD woman has been arrested on suspicion of fraud after an investigation by Essex Police.
Officers say they received 17 reports of fraud after allegations that a female suggested to members of the public that she had broken down and needed their support.
They say this resulted in a financial gain.
Essex Police has since confirmed following an investigation a 41-year-old woman has been arrested.
A spokesman said: "A woman has been arrested following an investigation into alleged reports of fraud.
"On Thursday, March 28, an arrest was made in respect of 17 reports of fraud after allegations that a female suggested to members of the public that she had broken down and needed their support, resulting in a financial gain.
"A 41-year-old woman from Rochford has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, and currently remains in custody and enquiries continue."
