EIGHTEEN areas of Essex have been named among the best places to live for London commuters.
The Telegraph newspaper and Savills estate agents have ranked 100 commuter towns against ten criteria like travel time, house prices, and the cost of a season ticket.
An interactive list published online lets commuters reshuffle the list depending on which criteria are most important to them.
On the unfiltered list, Basildon is named as the best town in Essex to live in for people commuting into the capital and the third best in the country.

Why is Basildon the best commuter town in Essex?
The Telegraph says Basildon has “long been a favourite with those commuting into the city”, with the commute taking 35 minutes via three stations.
It adds house prices in Basildon are “considerably cheaper” than in some of the town’s rural neighbours.
