IF you’re hoping to take on an exciting new role at Colchester Zoo, you might just be in luck.
The zoo is currently advertising for two jobs after three previous vacancies were filled.
Here is what zoo bosses are after for each advertised job.
Retail host
As part of the retail team, you will be helping to provide visitors with "a first-class experience" within The Outpost Gift Shop and Coffee Lounge, by assisting with customer enquiries, understanding individual needs, and ensuring the highest standards of product presentation on the shop floor.
Responsibilities include meeting and warmly welcome customers as they enter the shop, assisting customers with any enquiries and handling customer payments.
Full training will be provided.
There are currently two positions available; three days per week and five days per week
Closing date is May 5.
Painter
The zoo is looking for a painter to join its maintenance team in a full time, five day week role.
Key responsibilities will include applying paint, varnish and other finishes and special coatings to the walls, ceilings and other surfaces of buildings and structures.
Experience of painting work is required.
Closing date April 30.
Electrician
Reporting to management, you will be responsible for maintaining various electrical appliances around the zoo including lighting, security and data systems.
The role is a 40 hour full time position and you will carry out a range of manual jobs around the park as requested by your line manager.
You will require a minimum City and Guilds 2365-02 or equivalent.
Closing date April 30.
Labourer
Key responsibilities will include working across the site on a range of construction and maintenance activities, reporting damage and vandalism, and operating construction equipment.
The role will see you working on construction and maintenance jobs, including construction, groundwork, demolition and labouring.
Experience of construction or labouring work is required.
Closing date April 30.
