The speed limit may be cut on part of a major road linking east London with south Essex and central London.
An application made by Transport for London (TfL) has proposed to lower the legal speed limit on the A13 Lodge Avenue Flyover from 40mph to 30mph.
If approved, the altered speed limit would be enforced on the A13 Ripple Road and Alfreds Way, including their surrounding slip roads.
In its application, TfL has detailed the exact points at which the new limit would start and end.
On the eastbound carriageway of the A13 Alfreds Way and Ripple Road, the limit would apply from Ripple Road by the Thatched House pub to Castle Road, Dagenham.
The slip road onto the eastbound carriageway of the main road would also fall under the new speed limit from the Lodge Avenue interchange roundabout.
The exit slip from the eastbound carriageway onto the roundabout would be made a 30mphzone up to Ripple Road by the Thatched House pub.
TfL's proposal would also apply to the westbound carriageway of the A13.
The limit would apply to the exit slip off the A13 westbound carriageway, onto the roundabout and to Brunswick House on Ripple Road.
On the westbound approach to Ripple Road, the limit would be imposed between Brunswick House and the Eastern Approach, Alfreds Way.
The change would also affect the slip road onto the westbound carriageway of the A13 from the roundabout to the industrial units at Eastern Approach on Alfreds way.
TfL submitted the application on April 17, and road users have until May 8 to make their comments on the plans.
