Looking for the best place for a dog walk? This week we asked our Echo Facebook users which park in south Essex is the best for a dog walk.

1. Belfairs Park:

This park is located in Eastwood Road North and has more than 1,000-acres to explore.

The woodlands are home to a number of historic landscape features and a wide variety of flora and fauna.

One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “Well this is a lovely place to take the dog for a walk, absolutely lovely so nice a peaceful and calm there.

“Our dog loves it there although the golf course is there as well this does not affect what we or anyone is doing going for a walk there. It is good there in all seasons.”

2. Hockley Woods:

Hockley Woods covers more than 130 hectares.

The woods are a complex mosaic of different trees, each species growing where conditions are most favourable.

One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “I often go here to walk my dog. It is good. Great walks of different sizes.”

3. Cherry Orchard Country Park:

This is a 200-acre beautiful wildlife park which provides unique recreational facilities for residents and visitors to the area.

The woodland, lake, open grassland, and network of connecting paths and bridleways also provide habitat for a huge range of animals and plants.

This large green area is perfect for families, fishermen, dog walkers and those looking for peace and quiet.

4. Priory Park:

Priory Park is large park covering 45 acres with a wide range of facilities for all the family.

There are beautiful formal gardens, the cliff bandstand, areas of recreation, children's playground as well as sports pitches.

One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “This is a great place to visit and take the dog for a walk, as well as this there are things for the children to play on, this is a super place for a picnic or just sit and relax a while.”

5. Hadleigh Country Park:

Hadleigh Country Park offers unrivalled opportunities for countryside recreation and wildlife watching, as well as magnificent views over the estuary to Kent.

Extending to 387 acres it is one of the largest country parks in Essex and comprises an intimate mix of woodland, pasture, hay meadow and marsh with old hedgerows and ponds.
