People across south Essex are waking up to find that last weekend's heatwave has truly come to an end.
Heavy downpours of rain are being forecast across south Essex this morning by the Met Office, who are forecasting that Southend is to experience heavy bursts of rain throughout the day, with a maximum temperature of 20 degrees.
Rain is expected between 8am and 9am, becoming lighter to 11am and then resuming heavily at 3pm.
Constant rain is being forecast for Basildon, Billericay and Wickford until around 5pm, with the most intense downpours forecast for between 8am and 11am.
Rain is also putting an end to any enjoyment of the sunnier weather in Benfleet and Canvey, which both have an overcast day ahead, with patches of heavy rain until late.
