A POPULAR country pub has more than doubled its number of staff after a month-long six-figure renovation designed to revitalise the site.
The Duke of Wellington in Hatfield Peverel, off the A12, closed its doors on April 15 to undergo the major works and create a new, welcoming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.
Unveiled on Saturday, the interior and exterior of the pub has undergone a complete revitalisation, featuring contemporary décor additions that inject a fresh and modern atmosphere into the venue.
Furthermore, the revamped space will offer a more expansive feel, with renovations creating an additional 65 covers, with 50 of them situated outside. Among the outdoor enhancements is a newly installed pergola, complemented by festoon lighting.
Karl Henton, General Manager of the Duke of Wellington said: “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to renovate the pub, with a complete revamp that has given it a whole new lease of life.
“Duke of Wellington has always been known for its top tier service, delicious food and cosy pub environment and we want to reassure our customers that this has not changed, the pub has simply received the TLC that it deserves.”
The pub hosted a launch party on Saturday to celebrate its reopening, featuring an array of entertainment. The lively Party Monsters kept the excitement going from 11am to 3pm, followed by the mesmerising magic of Nick Brown before Sound 4 Sound took the stage at 8pm.
Proudly declaring itself a ‘football-free zone’, the pub welcomes families to come together and unwind, with a play area ensuring the kids stay happily entertained.
As a pillar of the community, the pub also supports Helen Rollason Cancer Charity and Farleigh Hospice via on site donations, while also working closely with its parish and football team, Hatfield Peverel Football Club.
The investment has provided several job opportunities to the area, taking the pub team from 12 to 29, more than doubling their number of staff. Recruitment is still ongoing for summer, anyone interested in applying can email their CV to 8225@greeneking.co.uk, or pop into the pub and speak to a member of staff.
