A LARGE cordon is in place with forensics at the scene of a "serious incident" at Shoebury Garrison this morning.
Police officers are carrying out an investigation with Chapel Road and Horseshoe Crescent closed while this takes place.
Photos from the scene show police tape surrounding a large area, with police cars, vans, and forensics at the scene.
Essex Police is yet to confirm what they are investigating and have just stated it is a "serious incident", reassuring the community that it is "isolated".
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Our officers are currently at the scene of a serious incident in Shoebury.
"While they carry out their investigations there is a cordon in place and some roads are closed to motorists and pedestrians.
"The roads affected are Chapel Road and Horseshoe Crescent.
"We know this will be concerning, but we would like to reassure the local community that we believe this is an isolated incident.
"We thank you for your patience and we will update you as soon as we are able."
