DRIVERS will have a number of closures to avoid on major roads in and around south Essex this week.
National Highways will be closing Maylands Way from the A12 to carry out utility works, including digging trial holes to identify existing utilities.
There will be no access directly into Maylands Way from the A12, from 9.30am tomorrow to 9am on Tuesday, June 11. A signed diversion route will be in place.
A lane on the A12 London-bound between Maylands Way and Harold Court Road will also be shut from 9am tomorrow to 9am on Thursday, June 6 while trial holes are dug.
Access will be maintained for properties within the closure on the A12.

Slip road closures
Essential drainage and street lighting works will also be carried out on the M25 anticlockwise entry slip.
To do this, National Highways will close the M25 anti-clockwise entry slip at junction 28 for a weekend, the entry slip will be closed from 11pm on Friday to 5am on Monday, June 3.
The A12 Colchester-bound exit slip road will also be closed for two weekends.
The A12 junction 11 eastbound exit slip will be closed from:
- 10pm Friday, June 7, to 5am Monday, June 10
- 10pm Friday, June 14, to 5am Monday, June 17
Diversions
During the slip road closures, to join the M25 anticlockwise, drivers should use Gallows Corner, the A127 and join the M25 at junction 29.
For traffic heading to the A1023, motorists should perform a U turn using the A12 junction 12 and travel back using the A12 London-bound.
