CONSERVATIVE party members have praised the newly announced candidate to stand in the July General Election for the Southend East and Rochford seat.
It has been announced that Gavin Haran will fight for a parliamentary seat as part of the forthcoming General Election.
His political ideology derives from his life and “the values of aspiration, patriotism and family”.
Now, Southend East and Rochford Conservative Association members have shared their thoughts on Mr Haran.
Former MP, Sir James Duddridge who stood down as the MP for Southend East and Rochford due to ill health, is thrilled with the news.
He said: "I am delighted that Gavin has been chosen to fill my shoes, it's a good thing they aren't that big.
“Being the MP for Rochford and Southend East for the past 19 years has been the most amazing experience.
“Competition for this seat has been high, and it's no surprise when you really take a look at what we have to offer.
“I am saddened that, for health reasons, I cannot continue on as the MP.
“However, Gavin is the best choice to succeed me and continue fighting for the great friends and neighbours I've made since being the MP.
“They are the right person to take on this challenge, and I wish them the very best of luck.
Commenting on the selection of Gavin Haran, Association Chairman Councillor Colin Campbell said: "Gavin is a fantastic candidate to be the champion of local residents and their issues.
“Gavin is a bold and energetic candidate who is fighting for the Conservative cause and has the full commitment and dedication to be our next Member of Parliament.
“We truly are lucky to have Gavin."
Meeting with Gavin following his selection, Anna Firth, Conservative Candidate for Southend West is also happy with the announcement.
"I am delighted that Gavin Haran has been selected to be the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Southend East and Rochford.
“Gavin's expertise in finance, business, and law is the perfect combination to help regenerate our city and create a city of opportunity for all.
“I am looking forward to working with Gavin in the House of Commons very shortly.”
