A SHOPLIFTER who was caught with a haul of wine and more than 20 chocolate bars has been banned from a south Essex Co-op.
Essex Police arrested Steven Whitman, 37, of no fixed address, after he left a Co-op store in Benfleet on Friday.
A search discovered he was carrying six bottles of wine and 25 chocolate bars, the force said.
Whitman was charged with shoplifting and has been handed a custodial sentence and a variation to a criminal behaviour order barring him from the shop in Kiln Road.
